What is magic?

Magic is the energy held within the persons body. It is different from the energy that keeps a person active. Though rather it is the life force essence that is locked within one's soul. Without a soul, a person is stripped of their life force, of their energy, their magic. There are many ways to channel one's magic into use, though many are unaware of how to even unlock their untapped raw energy, or magic. Magic is a very powerful tool, weapon, and most importantly a luxory. Not everyone is able to use their magic, despite having an idol which can help them unlock and harness their magic. An idol is an object, typically a jewel or stone that is perfectly in tune with the world and its mysterious ways. Yet some powerful magic users can create their own idols either for themselve or for others. These idols are typically in the form of an amulet, ring, or even in the form of a weapon. These kind of idols are called enchantments. One must always remember that magic is something to be used moderatley and must be used with a sound mind, or else one will face dire consequences.

How can one use magic?

There are many different processes in which one can perform magic.
Here is a short list of the ways from weakest to strongest.

Scroll: This is one of the simplest forms of magic. It involves reading the spell from the scroll. Typically less power is held within a scroll.
Book: This is another simple form of magic. It involves reading the spell from the book. Typically more power is held within a book then a scroll.
Word: This involves the memorization of a spell and speaking out the exact words of the spell from a scroll or book from which it was learned.
Ritual: This involves many different processes depending on the ritual. Each race varies. These typically involve a sacrifice for a powerful effect.
- Common things needed for a ritual:
Blood, personal belongings, body parts, sacrifice, herbs, spices, minerals.
Mind: This involves the use of one's mind in symmetry with body movement. Magic cannot be used to its full effect if the symmetry isn't precise.
True Mind: This involves the use of the mere thought of the mind, though the eyes are needed to target else the magic has nowhere to strike.

What are the limitations of using magic?

Magic does have its limitations, no matter how powerful a spell-caster may be. Magic takes a toll on one's energy, both spiritual and physical. When one does not have enough energy of either energy, the spell is either liable to backfire on the spell-caster, miss a target, or have little to no effect. All of which depends on the amount of energy needed for the desired spell and the desired effect. Though rare, the lack of spiritual or physical energy can result in death, however most often one will simply black out for a period of time which may span from a few minutes to a few weeks depending on the spell-casters attempt and the desired amount of energy needed versus the amount of energy available. A spell-caster will know when they are running low on spiritual energy because their insides will start to have an overall slight irritation, an itch that can't be itched to say the least. Another ailment of running low on spiritual energy is that the skin will start to redden, and will also become irritated. Though no matter how much the skin is itched, the itch can only be cured by replenishing one's spiritual energy.

There are two ways to replenish spiritual energy:
• Drinking a potion mixed with wild flowers and spring water.
• Getting a good night's rest.

There are two ways to replenish physical energy:
• Drinking a potion mixed with a flower from a fruit bearing tree and spring water.
• Getting a good night's rest.

Types Of Magic:

• Abjuration
Spells of this type focus magical energies to provide protection. This protection can take a number of forms, including warding off specific types of weapons or creatures and discouraging or dispelling enemies. Abjuration also includes a variety of spells involving avoidance and repellance. Abjuration spells concentrate on eliminating or hindering sources of potential harm rather than repairing damage.

• Alteration
Spells of this type enable the caster to channel magical energies to cause a direct and specific change in an existing object, creature, or condition. Alterations can affect a subject's form, weight, location, or even his physical well-being.

• Ceremonial or Ritual
This depends on race to race and is generally performed for both positive and negative purposes. This involves but isn't limited to removal of spirit possession, prosperity, injury to some party or parties.

• Conjuration and Summoning
This type includes two different types of magic, though both involve bringing in matter from another place. Conjuration spells produce various forms of non-living matter. Summoning spells entice or compel creatures to come to the caster, as well as allowing the caster to channel forces from other worlds. Since the casting techniques and ability requirements are the same for both types of magic, conjuration and summoning are considered two parts of the same type of magic.

• Enchanting and Charming
Similar to conjuration and summoning, this type encompasses two general types of spells. Both types imbue their subjects with magical energy to create specfic effects. Charm spells induce changes or influence the behavior of of creatures, usually altering emotional states. Enchantment spells invest non-living objects with magical powers. Neither charm nor enchantment spells have any affect on their subjects physical form, but may affect one's spirutal energy.

• Divination
This type involves spells that reveal information that would otherwise remain hidden or secret. Divination spells reveal the existance of specific items, creatures, or conditions, as well as information about the past, present, and future. This type of magic also includes spells that contact creatures from other worlds, but do not induce direct action from those creatures.

• Elemental
Aeromancy: The elemental magic of air. Air mages are most commonally associated with travel, change, and a strong sense of direction.
Geomancy: The elemental magic of earth, or stone. Geomancy is typically associated with a strong sense of stability, both mental and physical.
Hydromancy: The elemental magic of water. Most assosiated to creation, birth, and dreams as well as the general emotions felt by all.
Pyromancy: The elemental magic of fire. This type of magic is usually associated with destruction and the drive for survival, as well as the heated passions of strong emotions.
Sylvamancy: The elemental magic of wood. Generally known as the element of life, growth, and development. The magic concerned with this element is usually associated with morphing and the seasons.

• Illusion
Spells of illusion bend reality to create apparent changes in the environment, in the caster, or in persons or creatures. These spells do not cause real changes as alteration spells do, but instead alter the way that creature and person percieve reality.

• Necromancy
This powerful type of magic involves spells dealing with death and the dead. These spells drain vitality from living creatures and restore life functions to unliving creatures. Bones, blood, and spirits are all associtated with the magical energies shaped and controlled by the specialists of this magic.
